This reception and panel discussion commemorated the tenth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, which had a profound effect on the law and lawyers in New York City.

Ten years later and ten blocks north of Ground Zero, distinguished speakers shared their reflections and unique perspectives, addressing topics including: the September 11thVictim Compensation Fund as a model for future publicly funded compensation programs; civil liberties, law enforcement, and national security in a post-9/11 world; legal issues arising from the rebuilding at Ground Zero and New York City’s response to more than 10,000 lawsuits filed against the city as a result of the attacks; and the effect of the attacks on a law firm that was located in the World Trade Center’s North Tower. The panel discussion was followed by Q&A with the audience. The speakers’ reflections have been published in an issue of the New York Law School Law Review.   To read the issue click here.   The issue can also be found through LexisNexis, Westlaw, and HeinOnline at 56 N.Y.L. Sch. L. Rev. 819-1256 (2011–2011). For reprints and subscriptions, click here.
